News
* There is much controversy online right now over the refurbishment/major overhaul coming to the It's A Small World ride. Reportedly they will be adding Disney Characters dressed in appropriate attire to blend in with the scenes from different countries. I'll let you know more as I hear/read it..
* Nintendo DS Handheld Guide trials at MKDisney has recently been trying out a new sort of a "park guide" in the form of a modified Nintendo DS system. The system displays park information about attractions and tracks your movement through the park via GPS. Several guests have been asked to try the new system, and tests will continue for a few more days. Full implementation or wide availability of the system for use by guests may occur in the future, but at the moment no further information is available.
* Over at the Magic Kingdom on Main Street USA at The Chapeau, guests can now create their own custom Mickey Ears complete with a variety of ear, hat, and decorative options. Ears can be mixed and matched. They attach with simple snaps. Patches are simple peel and stick and are heat sealed by cast members at completion. Lettering is available in a pre-packaged set of stickies -or- you can add a proper name with computerized embroidery. To see pics of the store go to http://www.laughingplace.com/Lotion-View-591.asp
* Wish you could live at Walt Disney World? You just might have that chance. The Orlando Sentinel has reported that WDW is negotiating with Orange County officials plans to build homes on what used to be Disney Eagle Pines Golf Course. This luxury housing resort will feature homes valued at over 1 million dollars and will be located along the banks of the canals there. Start saving your pennies!..
celebrations
* April 22nd, Earth Day, marked the 10th anniversary of the opening of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Happy 10th Birthday Animal Kingdom!!!
* Epcot's International Flower and Garden Festival is here! If you are lucky enough to visit the parks before June 1st, you will see something truly memorable and spectacular. The festival is celebrating it's 15th year and is filled right now with colorful flowers, lush gardens, Disney character topiaries, gardening demo's, speakers, music, and more!
refurbishments
* June 5-18, 2008 Pirates of the Caribbean will be down for minor changes. Boo Hoo... At least it's a short amount of time.
check out this website!
* Feeling nostalgic about an extinct attraction? I personally miss 2000 Leagues Under The Sea, Horizons, and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride very much. My friend Michelle told me about this really great website http://www.extinct-attractions-club.com/. They have preserved theme park history through documentaries, audio recordings, books, podcasts.and the stories told to us by the Disney legends themselves. They have over 200 DVDs/CDs and books on the subject of rides, attractions and shows fromDisneyland, Epcot, and many other theme parks from the 1950's to today.
Fun facts
* Figment from the Imaginations Pavilion is purple because its sponsor Kodak didn’t want him in Fuji film’s colors, which are green and yellow. Fuji is Kodak’s rival company!
Hidden Treasures
* “Tony’s Town square Restaurant” on Main Street pays homage to the Italian restaurant in Disney’s movie Lady and the Tramp. Look for their signature carved into the pavement just outside the restaurant. It’s “paws-atively” adorable!
